Cover your
income

Get free, no obligation income protection advice at your convenience.

Your income provides the funds for essential bills and lifestyle choices. Make sure you can continue to cover these costs if you cannot work due to injury or illness.

Should you fail to disclose or misrepresent a fact, then you risk the insurer only paying part of the claim, declining to pay all the claim and possibly declaring the policy invalid.

About Income Protection

Income Protection is designed to provide a monthly income if you become ill or suffer an injury or accident severe enough to stop you from going to work for a long time. Unfortunately our outgoings don’t stop, even if we are sick or injured and suddenly losing your income could be distressing and even disastrous to your financial position. That’s where income protection can provide a regular income if you are unable to continue to work due to illness or injury.

Invest in Income Protection

We help you consider the financial impact of time off work on you or your family

Could you survive
on £123.25 per week?

The government’s minimum required amount of statutory sick pay is just £123.25 per week, which is not enough for many households to survive on. You may have savings or other means to help support you if you cannot work for a while, but few have sufficient resources if they are off work for a sustained period of time. Income protection can step in and provide a regular and tax-free income to cover your essential and lifestyle costs in the event you cannot work through injury or illness.

Our Providers

We always give a personal recommendation, on the basis of a personal analysis of you and your circumstances. We have 13 providers on panel including household names such as Aviva, LV and Legal and General for income protection, but also specialist providers, so that any recommendation can be specific to your needs and preferences.

Income Protection got you puzzled? Let our frequently asked questions get you informed on income protection

How much of my income
will my income protection
policy cover?
Income protection policies typically cover a percentage of your pre-tax income if you’re unable to work due to illness or injury. The amount of coverage can vary, but most income protection policies cover between 50% and 70% of your gross (pre-tax) income. The exact percentage depends on the insurer and the specific policy you choose.
How long will payments last?
The duration of the benefit period of an income protection policy will depend on the type of policy you choose. Full income protection will provide cover until you are due to retire or when the policy is due to cease, whilst limited benefit policies will typically see you receive benefits for 1, 2 or 5 years.
When will the benefits start?
You benefits will start paying after your “deferred period” ends. Typically, the deferred period will be set to start after your employer’s sick pay ends, but deferred periods can be set between 1 week and 5 years depending on your individual circumstances.
Do I need income protection?
Deciding whether you want to take an income protection policy will depend on a variety of factors such as your savings, your outgoings and the earnings of your partner. It’s important to understand the financial impact of being unable to work for an extended period and during your protection review, we will be able to demonstrate this impact.
